The International Code Council recently recognized indieDwell as only the fourth company in the United States certified to utilize certain shipping containers as a building material in residential homes.

The ICC develops model codes and standards used worldwide to construct safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient structures. indieDwell certified the forty foot “High Cube” container used in its model 3, 6 and 9 homes, as well as the twenty foot container used in small footprint multi-family developments. The certification award specifically noted:

“indieDwell has received confirmation from ICC Evaluation Service, LLC (ICC-ES), that its homes comply with the provisions of the 2015 and 2018 International Building Code and 2015 and 2018 International Residential Code. This confirmation, as evidence in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-4390, provides guidance to code officials faced with approving the use of indieDwell homes under these codes. The evaluation report is available online at www.icc-es.org.”

Scott Flynn, indieDwell Co-Founder and CEO noted the company “continues innovating on the leading edge of the modular construction industry,” in earning this landmark certification.
